What is there to do at Biketoberfest?

Basically everything except stay sober and keep your boots dry. These are the spots worth your fuel:

• Daytona International Speedway. Four days of road racing with the American SportBike Racing Association and the Championship Cup Series on the Speedway road course. Note that only infield admission is available. The Speedway also hosts the Motorcycle Marketplace, with vendors, manufacturers and demo rides, plus the Official Welcome Center, where you can grab free event posters, pins and poker chips while supplies last.
• Destination Daytona. Teddy Morse's Daytona Harley-Davidson throws its own party with vendors, food trucks, bars and live music. It's the obvious spot to meet up with your crew and stage a ride.
• Main Street. The classic Daytona scene. Chrome, noise, people-watching, overpriced beer and someone's uncle in assless chaps who really should have reconsidered. You have to do it at least once.
• Boardwalk Bike Show (Friday, Oct. 16). Twenty classes and $500 cash for Best of Show. Entry is $40 per bike, so if your build is clean, roll it in.
• Midtown at Cypress Street Park. Live music and food vendors serving Southern and Caribbean food. A good break from the Main Street madness.
• Riverfront Beer and Peanuts at Tomoka State Park. It's on the Ormond Scenic Loop. You get beer, peanuts, ice cream and coffee by the river, and you might spot manatees, dolphins or gators.
• Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum. Extended hours during the rally, and a great ride down the coast.

What are the best motorcycle rides during Biketoberfest?

Here's the secret the Main Street crowd forgets: Daytona is a great place to ride, and mid-October usually brings some of Florida's nicest riding weather of the year.

1. The Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail. It's about 32 miles of live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, protected marshland and very little traffic, and it runs through Tomoka State Park and across the Tomoka and Halifax rivers. If you only do one ride, make it this one.
2. A1A. The coastal highway runs the length of Florida's east coast and was designated the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway in 2024. Ocean on one side, sunburn on the other. Head south to Ponce Inlet and the lighthouse.
3. Main Street and Beach Street. Not a "ride" so much as a slow-motion parade, but rolling Main at dusk is part of the deal.

This is the fourth year of the MotoPassport Scavenger Hunt in the free official Biketoberfest app. Make an account, then check in at all 12 participating spots, including Teddy Morse's Daytona Harley-Davidson, Indian Motorcycle Daytona Beach, RideNow Powersports in Holly Hill, Main Street Tattoo, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and the Official Welcome Center. What should you wear to Biketoberfest?

October in Daytona isn't Sturgis in August, and it isn't a Tennessee fall ride either. Think warm days and comfortable evenings, so pack for both.

• A breathable tee for the day. You'll be walking vendor rows in the sun. Leave the heavy flannel in the saddlebag.
• A light layer for night. A long sleeve or thin hoodie under your jacket for the ride back from Main Street.
• Real eye protection. The sun off the ocean on A1A is no joke, and neither are the bugs.
• Rain gear. It's Florida. A pop-up shower can soak you before you finish saying "it looks clear."
• Something that starts a conversation. Half the fun of a rally is strangers laughing at your shirt. Pick one worth laughing at.

Yes. Bike Week is the spring blowout, with bigger crowds and more chaos. Biketoberfest feels more relaxed.
